June of 2016 - I was 8 months post-partum with my second child (first born was 23 months old).  I didn’t really know how to cook and I had NO IDEA how much hidden sugar was in everything I was eating. I had been working out for 3 months straight with the scale not budging.  I had tried everything under the sun to try to get the rest of my baby weight off.  I wasn’t getting better in the gym, I was tired and taking naps in the afternoon when my kids napped, I was just overall sluggish (even though I was managing to get to the gym 5-6 days a week).  


A small group of friends (I mean small – only 5 of us including my husband) asked us to do the Whole30 with them.  I had no idea what Whole30 was, but I was desperate for a change. I did a lot of research and began to find several compliant recipes that would work for my busy growing family.  The 5 of us created rules to hold each other accountable.
My first Whole30 resulted in a 10 pound weight loss, lots of PRs inside the gym, AMAZING energy, glowing skin, clothes fitting differently…you get the picture here!  My husband lost 9lbs, hit so many PRs in the gym, and was on the track to coming off of his gout medicine.
We didn't feel like we had fully grasped our Food Freedom at this point - so we keep going and basically did a Whole90.

Through the holidays of 2k16 we learned the ways to navigate through our Food Freedom and did not fall far off track! However, January hit and we were ready to reset again.

The results my husband and I both had were incredible.
I was no longer sluggish and taking naps in the afternoons.  I had energy to keep up with my 2 kids at the time.  I was lifting heavier than I ever had and my endurance had gotten better (I shaved a minute off of my mile time), I was more confident! I found out that dairy, gluten and sugar DO NOT sit well with me, I get congested, bloated, breakout, and become irritable! I lost a total of 40 pounds after 6 complete rounds of Whole30, but honestly the weight loss was just an added bonus. My gut healed, I learned what foods to consume and what foods to stay away from. My life was changed!

Then in June of 2017 we found out we were expecting with our third child! Throughout my pregnancy I enjoyed feeling comfortable in my Food Freedom, steering clear of those pesky foods that I know my body dislikes.

After my 3rd baby was born I did several small resets when I felt like I was falling off track.  In August of 2018 I found myself really indulging in the kids treats (eating them ALL and not leaving any for the kids - oops).  I completed my 7th round of Whole30 at 6 months post-partum. 

This program has taught me so much about myself.  I have learned how to cook, read labels, how to look for hidden ingredients in our food, what hidden sugars are, how to navigate a restaurant menu without indulging.  The list goes on.  I have been transformed.  I have always read that it starts with nutrition, but never really believed it until I actually began to change my own ways of eating.  The Whole30 changed my life.
